"J'attendais WOLVE avec impatience, car ce sont également eux qui ont organisé et réunis ces talents sur scène. Je ne les connaissais pas mais quelques bruits de couloirs m'ont fait comprendre que ce groupe défonce pour parler crument." [Read more…]
WOLVE is the moniker of french singer, songwriter & instrumentalist Julien Sournac.
Deeply rooted in alternative rock, his music incorportates a multitude of influences such as progressive rock, post-rock, punk rock, pop, noise, folk, world and electronic music.
Self-produced debut album « Sleepwalker » is released on Bandcamp in 2014.
Resulting of a three-years writing, all compositions, arrangements, vocal and most of the instruments are written & performed by Julien Sournac, co-produced and mixed by Brice Chandler between 2011 and 2013. The album received praise from the media (Music Waves, Neoprog, French-Metal, Koid’9, Soilchronicles, CORE&CO, IDIOTEQ, Progressor, Progressive Music Planet, Power Of Metal…), enabling Wolve to open for Fish and Arena in 2015, before being invited to the Prog-résiste festival in Belgium.
Early 2016, Wolve returned to the studio and produced 18 minutes of music in a spontaneous way.
Mainly recorded live to capture the band's raw energy, « LAZARE » EP has a more radical and organic sound, and deals with themes such as resilience, anger, duality… through a sonic landscape recalling a state of limbo, alternating aerial and brutal passages, making the music evoke a shamanic trance.
« LAZARE », co-produced by Brice Chandler, is released in October 2016 on digital platforms (itunes, spotify, deezer…) and in a physical copy with artworks via Bandcamp.
Two weeks later, the band was co-headlining the « Normal Animal Tour » , a 14 shows tour across Europe (France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Belgium) - Alongside french post-rockers SAAR.
2017 marks a change in the line up. Julien Sournac renews the live band to perform a bunch of shows, including the first Post-Rock Festival in Paris « Post in Paris », and opens for the three French dates of Enslaved at the Trabendo in Paris, at the Barakason in Nantes and at the CCO in Lyon. WOLVE is currently working on his second album.
